Held in the Darwin Hall of Antwerp Zoo, in the heart of the diamond district, this wonderful venue played host to the first annual Fine Art & Specie Insurance Conference on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd October 2010.

This, the first academic conference hosted by ifasic, was initially aimed at those who participate in the European Specie Insurance Markets. However the conferences was actually attended by over 140 delegates representing 60+ companies from 12 countries around the globe, representatives coming from as far a field as Argentina, Mexico, USA and Israel.

Donna will be taking us through the latest developments in Security practices and procedures and giving underwriters some insight in to things they should be looking out for.

Donna Bullock after a number of years with the Royal Military Police, Donna moved in to the world of private security. Holding a number of high profile roles including Head of Airport Security at Heathrow and Head of Global Security at Graff Diamonds. In 2010 Donna set up Acanthurus Limited, where she is currently a Director and independent Risk Management consultant.

An overview of Lloyds in 2010 and the latest market initiatives.

Nick Burkinshaw is a Committee Member of the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA), which provides professional, technical support to the Lloyd’s underwriting community. In 1992 Nick joined Catlin as class underwriter for the specie and fine art accounts. He was appointed Underwriting Director in 2000 and active underwriter of the Catlin Syndicate in 2006.

Yannick-Daucourt

European Market.
An insight in to the current status of the European markets.

Yannick Daucourt is XL Insurance’s Regional Manager Fine Art & Specie for Europe and Asia Pacific. Based in Switzerland, he oversees the insurance programs of the large watchmaker and jewellers groups as well retail jewellery shops and diamond dealers. Mr. Daucourt brings 15 years experience in the Fine Art & Specie insurance industry, having worked on both the reinsurance and insurance sides of the business. He has been with XL Insurance since 2003.

Ken will be giving a talk on the changes in the market in the last 40 years.

Ken Hopwood has over forty years experience in the insurance industry, Ken has held a number of senior positions within both the Lloyd’s and Company markets. In 2007 Ken joined Catlin as a Class Underwriter for the specie and fine art account, and is an elected member of the Joint Cargo Committee (JCC), the JCC Working Party on Airport Security, Metals Working Party, and has recently joined the London Jewellery Security Strategic Group, which is a Metropolitan Police and Jewellery Industry initiative

Security in the Secured Antwerp Diamond Area (SADA)
Michael will be going through some of the recent changes in security within the SADA.

Michael Suchowolski is a Director of the leading and oldest trading bourses in the world, the Diamantclub Van Antwerpen, or Antwwerp Diamond Club. The “Diamantclub” works to promote and expand the position of Antwerp as a world diamond centre and strives to promote the interests of its members within the sector. Working with its sister organisations, the Diamantclub also provides a framework within which its members can trade in confidence, supported by regulations.
